Processing Raw Images

Imagine baking the perfect cake. It has the right ingredients and has been placed in the oven for just the right amount of time - let’s call this a perfectly exposed JPG image. Now imagine that it is under or over baked, or there was not enough flour or eggs in the ingredients - it doesn’t look, or taste very nice. Let’s call this an over or under exposed JPG image.

The cooking analogy simply illustrates the fact that JPG images are fine when perfectly exposed, but offer little room to correct the image, if the cameras settings were not correctly set. That’s where RAW images come in and I will show you the reason that most photographers only shoot RAW.
