How to use your camera
Your company owns a digital SLR, but nobody knows how to use it properly! That's where we can help. Our 6-hour workshop is designed for up to six people and will teach you how to take your camera off 'Program' mode and take control of your photography. Our non-technical course will briefly take you through the basics of photography and then it's a hands on session where you will see exactly what is happening on screen.
SPOTLIGHT ON MILTON KEYNES HOSPITAL
Milton Keynes Hospital own a digital DSLR that is used by the staff to take photographs of presentations and activities around the hospital for use in newsletters and social media. The Communications Department recently invited Charles to train five members of staff to use the camera properly and, ultimately, improve the quality of their photography.
From amateur to Pro in just six months
You are a keen amateur, or staff photographer, who can handle a camera well, with a good 'eye' for a photograph. Now you would like to make photography your career. But where do you start? This is a 6-month course is designed for us to meet for one day per month, both at the studio and on location, and we will cover a whole variety of subjects: setting up and running a studio, photographing on location, food, products, digital workflow, copyright, costings, accounts and marketing.
HOW TO photograph products - module 1
This is a one-day course run from our studio in Earls Barton and can be run in conjunction with our Studio 2 modules. During the day, you will learn everything about product photography, colour calibration and digital workflow, providing you with the knowledge to photograph products properly.
HOW TO PHOTOGRAPH PRODUCTS - MODULE 2
A more advanced one-day course for those who have attended module 1. Again, the course is run from our studio in Earls Barton, and on this course we will spend more time on raw image processing and retouching your images.
STUDIO 2 Business
Do you run a small business that requires regular photography? Perhaps you have a number of tabletop sized products that are needed for your website, but you do not have the budget to employ a professional photographer on a regular basis. That is where we can help you. We will organise everything you need, train your staff * and will have you up and running within days.
studio 2 PROfessional
Studio 2 Professional is our studio installation and training service that provides you with your own in-house photography service. With over 30 years of expertise in commercial photography, we can provide you with everything you need to photograph your own products. Not only will this save you money, but more importantly, it means your products will be back on sale in a very short space of time, lessening the chance of damage or loss.
We will take you through the process of locating the best space for your studio, the equipment, the digital workflow and even finding you the best photographers and designers to run it for you. Even better, within a relatively short space of time, your studio will also be able to commission photographic and design work from external sources, providing you with the opportunity to meet new customers, who may also take advantage of your core services. A good example of this would be someone in logistics business, who initially offered a shoe customer the chance to photograph their products and was then able to provide a complete fulfilment service of the same article.

SPOTLIGHT ON HARVEY NICHOLS
Harvey Nichols, founded in 1813, is an upmarket department store with its origins in London (although you might know it as Harvey Nicks from Absolutely Fabulous, since Edina and Patsy were regulars there). The company started out as a linen shop, but now sells many international brands of clothing for women and men, beauty products, furniture and other household goods, wine and food. When Harvey Nichols were looking for a solution to their product photography needs, they chose Charles Ward to assist them.
We have been using Squarespace websites for over two years and have recommended the company to many of our friends and clients. This website has been created using Squarespace and we have full control of every aspect of the content, allowing us to make changes on a daily basis. We love it!
If you would like to try Squarespace, simply download a trial template and give a go for a month - it's completely free and there is no obligation to sign up. Having tried it out, you may be happy to carry on and design your own site - after all, it's designed to be really easy to use. However, if you would like some help, we can train you up in no more than four hours.

Digital Asset Mangement - Picturepark
Digital media asset management isn’t as complicated as it sounds. It simply means that all of your digital images, data and documents can be stored online in a single place and accessed from anywhere in the world. It gives you complete control because you can decide who can access your digital assets and use them. You can also allow different people access to different areas of your online asset database.
